A neighbourhood located east of downtown, Centre-Sud is bordered by St. Hubert street to the west, the St. Lawrence River to the south, the Canadian Pacific Railway to the east, and Sherbrooke street to the north. The Centre-Sud is bordered by Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and the Plateau. The Gay Village is included in this area. This neighbourhood once went through a difficult period, but has increasingly gentrified since the early 2000's. Its increased popularity can be attributed, among other reasons, to its proximity to the Latin Quarter and downtown. The neighbourhood used to consist mostly of apartments (duplexes and triplexes), but many condo projects have cropped up over the last few years. This neighbourhood will interest those who want to live in an ever-changing area that is easily accessible.
