Parc-Extension (commonly called Park Ex by anglophones) is located in the very middle of the island and is  bordered by L'Acadie Blvd, the Metropolitan Expressway, and Casgrain and Jean Talon Streets.  Parc-Extension is surrounded by Town of Mont-RoyalVillerayRosemont and Ahuntsic. It is the most densely populated part of Montreal and is extremely multiethnic. To give some idea, 62% of its residents were born outside the country and one can hear almost 40 languages spoken in this neighbourhood. Although it consists mostly of apartments, Park Ex has recently welcomed more and more condo projects. This area will interest people who wish to find a residence for less money than in certain other neighbourhoods while still making the most of public transit and close proximity to Montreal's main neighbourhoods.

Annexed as part of Montreal in 1910, the neighbourhood became more and more multiethnic starting in the 1970's. Affected by the closure of factories in the 1970's, the area has been enjoying renewed growth for the last few years, thanks in part to several renovation projects of old factories.

Features and attractions:

  • Parc and L'Acadie metro stations (blue line)
  • Old Jean-Talon Station (1931)
