Kirkland is a neighbourhood located at the west of the island and bordered roughly by Antoine, Brome, and Acre streets, and the streets located to the south of the Trans-Canada Highway. Kirkland is surrounded by Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Beaconsfield, Pointe-Claire, Dollard-des-Ormeaux and Pierrefonds.

Although it has an important industrial park, Kirkland isn't lacking in residential areas, which are composed mainly of houses, but also a few condos. With almost 45% anglophone inhabitants, there is also a significant francophone presence in the area. Kirkland will interest persons who wish to settle in a peaceful and relatively affluent area on the island of Montreal.
