Griffintown is located south of the downtown, in the borough southwest, core and is bordered by Notre Dame, McGill and Guy streets as well as by the Lachine Canal and is bordered by Verdun and the Little Burgundy It is a star example of a neighbourhood enjoying a fresh burst of life thanks to its current real estate boom. An erstwhile industrial zone that was left more or less abandoned after the deindustrialization of the Lachine Canal area, Griffintown has become a real estate hotspot in recent years. This is mostly due to its prime location, less than ten minutes from downtown and right next to the canal. A few large-scale condo projects have already transformed and revitalized the neghbourhood. Today Griffintown's population is mostly young urbanites, both anglophone and francophone. This neighbourhood will interest all those who wish to live at the heart of the action, near downtown, the Lachine Canal, and even Old Montreal!
