Saint-Michel is located in the northern part of Montreal, enclosed in the quadrangle formed by Papineau Street to the east, Charland Street to the north, 25th Avenue to the west and Belanger Street to the south, in the borough Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension. The area is surrounded by Montreal North, Saint Leonard, Petite Patrie, Rosemont and Ahuntsic.

Saint-Michel is a multicultural area, where you'll find many people of Haitian, Italian, Middle Eastern and Hispanic origin. Formerly comprised mainly of apartments, Saint-Michel has enjoyed increased real estate development in recent years which has resulted in the building of many condos. Saint-Michel will interest first-time buyers as the prices in the area are generally lower than in surrounding neighbourhoods.

Among the transit options in St. Michel are the subway station of the same name and many bus lines. The area also has many parks, and the Tohu, Cirque du Soleil's international headquarters and artist's residence, which also includes a concert hall that can fit up to 900 people.
