Located, as its name implies, on the northern part of the island of Montreal, Montreal North is more or less bordered by J.J. Gagnier Street, the Industrial Boulevard, Marie Victorin Street and Riviere-des-Prairies, and is surrounded by Saint Michel, Ahuntsic, Saint Leonard and Riviere-des-Prairies.

A residential area consisting mostly of apartments, Montreal North is enjoying a certain level of development, with several condo projects cropping up. A multicultural area with large Haitian, North African (Algerian and Moroccan), Italian and Latin American communities, Montreal North will interest people who want to live on the island and still find a house at an affordable price.

Founded in 1915, Montreal North was joined to Montreal in 2002. Today, the neighbourhood has a population of more than 85,000 residents
