Hampstead is located to the east of the Decarie Expressway and north of the Chemin de la Cote-St-Luc. It is surrounded by Cote-St-Luc and NDG. A fairly well-to-do town, Hampstead will interest people with a comfortable income looking for a calm and safe neighbourhood on the island. The residential landscape is comprised mostly of luxury homes. Almost 78% of the population is anglophone, while only about 13% is francophone.

Founded in 1914, the city, after merging with Montreal, decided to become independent once more. Today, it has just over 7,000 inhabitants.
