Located at the very centre of the island, the Cote-des-Neiges neighbourhood is bordered by Outremont, Westmount, NDG, Hampstead and TMR. Cote-des-Neiges truly epotomizes Montreal's multicultural spirit. Over 100 different ethnic groups can be found here, the most notable being the South American, Middle Eastern, Chinese, Iranian, Vietnamese, Eastern European and African presences. It therefore goes without saying that the neighbourhood has many ethnic restaurants and shops, avidly frequented by people from Cote-des-Neiges and beyond. The neighbourhood is also home to a vast number of students who attend the Universite de Montreal, HEC, and the Polytechnique. Although mainly comprised of apartments, many new condo developments have sprung up in the area in recent years. Cote-des-Neiges will appeal to people who want to live near both public transit and post-secondary institutions in a multicultural area.
