Beaconsfield is an independent city located on the western part of the island of Montreal, and is surrounded by Baie-d'Urfe, Pointe-Claire, Kirkland, and Lac-Saint-Louis. It is bordered mainly by Pointe Claire avenue, the streets to the south of Highway 40 and Devon Street. A residential bedroom town, this area consists mainly of houses, with a few condos and apartments here and there. Although mostly anglophone, there is also a significant francophone presence in the area.

Beaconsfield has a population of 19,500 inhabitants , predominantly English-speakin . More than two thirds of the residents speak English in their daily lives and only 24 % in French . The city was founded in 1910 and was merged with Montreal from 2002 to 2006. From 2006 it again became an independent city .
